Walks usually comprise of 7-8 miles between 500ft-1400ft of ascent and approximately 3 to 5 hours duration in the hilly parts of Cheshire, Staffordshire and Derbyshire Peak District. This means that we may walk in inclement conditions and the ground may be soft or very muddy, particularly during the winter months. Our walks may require crossing fields with horses and cattle from time to time. We do not allow dogs on walks in this group. Packed lunch, sufficient water or other drinks, walking boots and waterproofs are essential. A walking pole (or poles) are highly recommended. It is also suggested that participants carry a mobile phone, torch and a basic first aid kit in case of emergencies. We share driving as far as possible and petrol costs,. Group members are expected to contribute walks for the group, and we anticipate that if each member leads two walks a year, then we can have a full programme. We also ask that, when leading a walk (which should ideally be recced beforehand), a simple risk assessment is made and shared with members joining the walk.
